The convergence of the corporate sector and civil society is one
of the great forces of our time. With globalization, corporations
are more powerful than ever. Yet, their responsiveness
to civil society over the environment, human rights, and other
issues has never been more important to their own sustainability.
Survival for corporations will depend increasingly on their acceptance
by the societies whose lives they affect. This requires
an unprecedented level of engagement. Each company can
choose whether to be dragged into the inevitable, or to embrace
it as a leader. The key is corporate reputation and all
of its many components.
This page, initiated in the late summer of 2006, will explore
such themes in the interest of making this landscape clearer
for corporate decision-makers.
